Florida High School Basketball - Seacrest Country Day over Immokalee
February 4, 2010: Immokalee, FL 34142 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Seacrest Country Day Stingrays (Naples, FL) and the host Immokalee Indians (Immokalee, FL), saw Seacrest Country Day's basketball squad knock off Immokalee by a score of 59-47.
With the victory, Seacrest Country Day improves its record to 19-4 on the campaign.
First Quarter
Seacrest came out firing as their inside game and defense staked them to a 16-2 lead after the first quarter.
Second Quarter
Immokalee fought back and after being down 24-8, they closed out the half, trailing 27-14. They limited the Stingrays to 1 of 9 from the field, with their lone bucket being a three point shot, but The Rays were hot from the line as they made 8 of 10 shots from the line.
Third Quarter
Brunes Charles took control after playing most of the second quarter with a dislocated finger. After a trainer put it back into place, he was able to score 10 of the Rays 14 points, in spite of missing 5 of 5 free throws.
Fourth Quarter
After the Indians cut the lead to 41-33 with a three pointer to open the quarter, Seacrest took control and stretched the lead to 56-40 with 1 1/2 minutes left. From there, they were able to close out the game, 59-47. Brunes Charles led all scorers with 22 points, along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Jeff Merton added 16 pts. & 10 reb.
