Arizona High School Softball - North Pointe Prep nudges Cortez
March 7, 2013: Phoenix, AZ 85051 North Pointe Prep Falcons (Phoenix, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cortez Colts (Phoenix, AZ), 14-13 in a non-league challenge.
The Falcons now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Northwest Christian for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 12. North Pointe Prep will battle a Crusaders squad coming off a 3-2 non-league win over Peoria (Peoria, AZ). The Crusaders record now stands at 3-2.
With the loss, Cortez falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Colts travel to Sunnyslope (Phoenix, AZ) to battle the Vikings in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 4-2. Sunnyslope lost 5-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Independence (Glendale, AZ)
Game Summary
The Falcons showed Cortez tonight exactly what they are made of. Right off the bat the falcons were up in the game, but then began to struggle In the third inning. At the top of the 4th inning Kaley Southard got things started again with a 2 run Homerun. Brittney Barragan pitched the entire game with 4 strikeouts.
