Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Geibel Catholic overwhelms Avella
January 18, 2019: Connellsville, PA 15425 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Geibel Catholic Gators (Connellsville, PA) and the visiting Avella Eagles (Avella, PA), saw Geibel Catholic's basketball squad wallop Avella by a tally of 73-40.
With the victory, Geibel Catholic improves its record to 7-7 on the campaign. The Gators travel to West Greene (Waynesburg, PA) to play the Pioneers in a WPIAL 1A 2 challenge on Tuesday, January 22. The Pioneers come into the challenge with a record of 5-8. West Greene lost 47-26 in their recent league challenge against Bishop Canevin (Pittsburgh, PA)
Next up, the Eagles play the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes (Carmichaels, PA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 19. Avella will attempt to improve on its 3-11 season record. The Mighty Mikes come into the challenge with a 7-8 record after their 74-46 league loss to California (Coal Center, PA).
