East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Wilkes Central Eagles (Wilkesboro, NC), 38-35 in a league bout.

With the win, East Wilkes upgrades its record to 15-2 on the season. The Cardinals host North Wilkes (Hays, NC) to play the Vikings in a Mountain Valley 1A/2A bout on Friday, January 19. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 16-2. North Wilkes won 61-51 in their recent league bout against West Wilkes (Millers Creek, NC)
