Game Summary
Woodside starter John Buchman kept the Cherokees off-balance and wiggled out of several jams as he went the distance to clinch a CCS berth and a share of the PAL Ocean Division title for the Wildcats. Sequoia's Carl Wassermann (5-2) took the loss for Sequoia, but it was Woodside capitalizing on some sloppy defensive play that turned the tide. Wassermann was 2 X 2 with a double and Kaito Streets had a pair of singles for the Cherokees who couldn't find the big hit despite getting runners in scoring position in 5 of the 7 innings. It now comes down to one final game for Sequoia in front of the home crowd on Thursday. A win means a share of the league title and a spot in the 16 team CCS bracket, a loss means the alternative. Jake Mauldin (4-1, 0.85 ERA) takes the mound for Sequoia (15-8-1) (10-3 PAL) on the final home date for the class of 2012.
