The Gaston Day Spartans (Gastonia, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology Cardinal (Charlotte, NC), 71-67 in Thursday's non-league test.

The Spartans (10-2) will now prepare for their test against North Gwinnett (Suwanee, GA). The Bulldogs go into the non-league test with a 8-1 record. In their last test, North Gwinnett got by Vance (Charlotte, NC), 60-55, in a non-league test.

The Cardinal now own a 5-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Vance for a non-league test on Friday, December 21. Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology will clash with a Cougars squad coming off a 60-55 non-league loss to North Gwinnett (Suwanee, GA). The Cougars record now stands at 7-2.
