January 3, 2011: Wilmington, DE 19805 The Sanford Warriors tipped the host St. Elizabeth Vikings basketball team by a final score of 63-57 in Monday's non-league game.
In their next game, the Warriors face the Salesianum Sallies (Wilmington, DE) in a non-league game, on Friday, January 7. Sanford will attempt to move on its 5-0 season record. The Sallies enter the game with a 1-4 record after their 51-26 non-league loss to Malvern Prep (Malvern, PA).
With the defeat, St. Elizabeth moves to 3-2 on the year. The Vikings travel to Wilmington Friends (Wilmington, DE) to face the Quakers in a non-league game on Wednesday, January 5. First Quarter
Andre Patton scored 6 points on his way to his 5th straigth double double (21 points, 12 rebounds) to lead St. E's to 11-11 1st quarter tie with the undefeated and #1 ranked Sanford Warriors, the defending State Champion.
Second Quarter
Sanfords Kahlik Hart hit two of his three 3's to help lead the Warriors to a 3 point halftime lead. The Viking's Andre Patton missed all but 2 minutes of this quarter due to foul trouble. Eric Patton helped the Vikings stay close with his double digit rebounds (10) and his strong defense of the Warriors Deon Jones.
Third Quarter
The Warriors Deon JOnes broke out with 9 of his game high 23 points and Syracuse bound Trevor Cooney's added 8 points to lead Sanford to a 14 point 3rd quarter lead.
Fourth Quarter
Point guard Timmy Massado led a furious comeback charge with 12 4th quarter points and Andre Patton added 7 points before fouling out with a minute left to lead a 24 point charge that fell just short of upsetting the #1 Sanford Warriors.
