California High School Basketball - Half Moon Bay topped by Menlo-Atherton
January 16, 2009: Half Moon Bay, CA 94019 The Menlo-Atherton Bears basketball team scored 64 points and restricted the host Half Moon Bay Cougars to 56 in the Bears league victory on Friday.
The Bears now sport a 12-5 record. They play next when they travel to El Camino for a non-league contest on Monday, January 19. Menlo-Atherton will meet a Colts team coming off a 52-27 league win over Westmoor (Daly City, CA). The Colts record now stands at 13-5.
The Cougars (2-11) will now prepare for their contest against South San Francisco (South San Francisco, CA). The Warriors come into the non-league contest with a 9-8 record. In their last contest, South San Francisco was defeated by Terra Nova (Pacifica, CA), 62-34, in a league contest.

Half Moon Bay takes lead. Power leads all scorers in the quarter with 9 points giving Half Moon Bay a 1 point advantage at half time.
Third Quarter
MA has a big scoring quarter led by Peter Defilipps (11) and Sam Knapp (8). MA scores 24 points total in the quarter to Half Moon Bay 12.
Fourth Quarter
Power (7 points) once again helps HMB surge to within 3, but can get no closer. A big advantage for MA was the free throw line where they scored 24 points (Defilipps 12) to 7 for HMB
