California High School Volleyball - St. Bonaventure Canyon
September 21, 2011: Canyon Country, CA 91351 The Canyon Cowboys volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the visiting St. Bonaventure Seraphs to 1 in the Cowboys non-league victory on Wednesday.
The Cowboys now have a 5-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to West Ranch for a Foothill game on Tuesday, September 27.
The Seraphs (2-5) will now prepare for their game against Hueneme (Oxnard, CA). The Vikings enter the non-league game with a 0-5 record. In their last game, Hueneme dropped by Fillmore (Fillmore, CA), 3-2, in a non-league game.
Match Summary
Junior outside hitter Morgan Fay lead the way with 19 kills and 11 digs as Canyon High School finished off the visiting Seraphs of Saint Bonaventure High School. Senior Co Captain Courtney Spackman collected 22 assists and 11 kills as the Cowboys won by scores of 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18. "It was definitely the best match we have played all season," Coach Brandon Johnson said. "That was the best defensive team that we have faced all season. I'm proud of my girls for pushing through and being aggressive". Junior setter Bri Lonquich contributed 18 assists and 9 digs for the Cowboys, 4-0 on the season. "All I can ask is that we continue to improve every match," Johnson said. "With league play starting next week we need to take the season one match at a time and continue to fight for every point."
