Texas High School Softball - Hebron can't get by Stony Point
March 3, 2012: Round Rock, TX 78664 The Stony Point Tigers softball team scored 2 points and limited the visiting Hebron Hawks to 1 in the Tigers non-league triumph on Saturday.
With the triumph, Stony Point moves its record to 4-2 on the year. The Tigers host Round Rock Westwood (Austin, TX) to clash with the Warriors in a 5A Region II District 16 game on Wednesday, March 7. The Warriors come into the game with a record of 7-1. Putnam hurls gem, but Hebron Hawks' bats go quiet in 2-1 loss to Stony Point Tigers
Hebron Hawks's Brynn Putnam pitched six innings, but providing enough offense to notch a victory proved difficult Saturday, as Hebron fell to the Stony Point Tigers 2-1 at McKinney Boyd High School.
The Stony Point Tigers would not relinquish the lead as Hebron Hawks was unable to weather a two-run second inning deficit.
Hebron Hawks scored one run in the sixth on a towering home run to right field by Chelsea Herndon. Still, the Hawks couldn't draw even.
Herndon had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. Herndon tripled in the third inning and homered in the sixth inning. Erinn Hill also tripled with two outs in the 7th starting a rally that fell just short.
Jacey Punches handled Hebron Hawks' lineup with ease, racking up 12 strikeouts. The Stony Point Tigers' pitcher allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks over seven innings.
