Chesterton Trojans (Chesterton, IN) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN), 58-38 in a league bout.

With the win, Chesterton upgrades its record to 9-8 on the season. The Trojans travel to Hobart (Hobart, IN) to clash with the Brickies in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 8. The Brickies go into the bout with a record of 3-14. Hobart lost 44-34 in their recent league bout against Highland (Highland, IN)

Next up, the Pirates clash with the Mishawaka Cavemen (Mishawaka, IN) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 11. Merrillville will attempt to upgrade on its 7-10 season record. The Cavemen go into the bout with a 6-14 record after their 37-34 non-league loss to Portage (Portage, IN).
