The Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), 75-72 in Friday's league test.

The Golden Lions (12-4) will now prepare for their test against Patton (Morganton, NC). The Panthers go into the 3A/2A South Mountain test with a 2-16 record.

The Patriots now own a 17-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Burns for a 3A/2A South Mountain test on Tuesday, January 24. Freedom will meet a Bulldogs team coming off a 74-57 league loss to Shelby (Shelby, NC). The Bulldogs record now stands at 2-8.
