Connecticut High School Lacrosse - Taft trounced by Salisbury School
May 11, 2011: Salisbury, CT 06068 In Wednesday's league contest, the Salisbury School Crimson Knights (Salisbury, CT) lacrosse team routed the visiting Taft Big Red (Watertown, CT), by a count of 10-4.
Coming up next, the Crimson Knights confront the St. Augustine Prep Hermits (Richland, NJ) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, May 14. Salisbury School will attempt to advance on its 9-1 season record. The Hermits enter the contest with a 13-4 record after their 15-0 league win over Absegami (Galloway, NJ).
The Big Red now own a 4-8 record. They play next when they host Loomis Chaffee for a Western New England Division 1 game on Saturday, May 14. Taft will clash with a squad coming off a 14-3 non-league win over Williston Northampton (Easthampton, MA). The record now stands at 3-8.
Game Summary
Salisbury, CT. - Despite a quick start for the Big Red, the Salisbury Crimson Knights were able to capitalize on all Taft mistakes and earned a solid 10-4 victory over the visitors on Wednesday afternoon.
Taft got off to a hot start and scored three of the first four goals of the game with James Tautkus '13 netting two nice ones when coming from X. Cooper Del Zotto '12 - back from injury - netted the third for the Big Red off of a strong shot from mid-range.
From there, the Big Red O had too many unforced turnovers, and depite being down only one at the half, were never able to get things going again offensively.
The Big Red returns to action on Saturday, May 14th on Alumni Day on the Taft Campus. The Alumni Game starts at 2:30pm and the Varsity will take the field at 4pm vs. Loomis Chaffee.
