North Carolina High School Softball - East Wilkes holds off Starmount

March 27, 2018: Ronda, NC 28670

East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Starmount Rams (Boonville, NC), 2-0 in a league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 6-2 record. They take the field next when they host West Forsyth for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 28. East Wilkes will battle a Titans squad coming off a 21-2 league win over R.J. Reynolds (Winston-Salem, NC). The Titans record now stands at 7-4.

With the loss, Starmount falls to 5-2 on the campaign. The Rams travel to North Wilkes (Hays, NC) to battle the Vikings in a Mountain Valley 1A/2A challenge on Thursday, March 29. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 4-5. North Wilkes lost 7-5 in their recent league challenge against Elkin (Elkin, NC)
