Florida High School Baseball - Freedom loses to Brandon
February 24, 2009: Tampa, FL 33647 The Brandon Eagles baseball team scored 5 points and limited the host Freedom Patriots to 1 in the Eagles league triumph on Tuesday.
The Eagles now hold a 3-0 record. They take the field next when they host Newsome for a 5A District 8 bout on Friday, February 27. Brandon will face a Wolves team coming off a 13-1 league loss to King (Tampa, FL). The Wolves record now stands at 2-2.
Next, the Patriots face the Wharton Wildcats (Tampa, FL) in a 5A District 8 bout, on Friday, February 27. Freedom will attempt to advance on its 1-2 season record. The Wildcats enter the bout with a 2-1 record after their 12-2 league win over Tampa Bay Tech (Tampa, FL).
Game Summary
Brandon jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning off of a Spencer Dewey HR to left field. The game remained 1-0 until the 6th inning when Brandon capitalized off of a throwing error while collecting 3 hits in a 4 run inning. Freedom scored their sole run in the sixth while leaving 3 of their 11 runners stranded on the evening.
