California High School Volleyball - Marin Academy crushed by St. Ignatius
September 20, 2010: San Rafael, CA 94901 The St. Ignatius Wildcats topped the host Marin Academy Wildcats volleyball team by a score of 3-0 in Monday's non-league test.
The Wildcats now have a 9-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Saratoga for a non-league test on Wednesday, September 22. St. Ignatius will confront a Falcons team coming off a 3-1 non-league win over King's Academy (Sunnyvale, CA). The Falcons record now stands at 7-8.
The Wildcats (5-1) will now prepare for their test against University (San Francisco, CA). The Red Devils enter the Bay Counties - West test with a 6-3 record.
Match Summary
The difference: Marin Academy was able to keep it close, but ended up taking a 25-19, 25-19, 28-26 loss against St. Ignatius of San Francisco. Savanah Leaf was a bright spot for MA (5-1), notching 15 kills and 14 digs against St. Ignatius (7-0). Setter Hannah Shank chipped in 26 assists, while Ellie Saake had 15 digs.
From the coach: "We certainly had some pretty good runs in the first couple games, then we were really competitive in the last game," MA's Craig Wong said. "(St. Ignatius is) one of the best volleyball programs around, so it was nice to get a taste of that competition."
