California High School Softball - Patriot can't get by Kaiser
March 30, 2012: Fontana, CA 92337 In Friday's league contest, the Kaiser Cats (Fontana, CA) softball squad got by the visiting Patriot Warriors (Riverside, CA), by a count of 4-3.
The Cats (8-6) will now prepare for their battle against Summit (Fontana, CA). The SkyHawks go into the Sunkist battle with a 6-5 record.
The Warriors now sport a 6-4 record. They play next when they travel to Arroyo Valley for a non-league battle on Saturday, March 31. Patriot will meet a Hawks squad coming off a 5-4 league loss to Rialto (Rialto, CA). The Hawks record now stands at 3-1.
Game Summary
Kaiser came back from a three-run deficit with two runs in the six and one run in the seventh and then went on to score in the bottom of the tenth in a well played gaime of league championship contenders. Kyla Gabbard held Patriot to 9 hits in the 10 innings, striking out 10 and walking a single batter intentionally: Danyelle Sturm, who had hit two solo homeruns in the forth and fifth innings to put the Warriors ahead. Jenae Lockwood doubled in Jenny Ruiz, who led off the 6th inning with a double. Kaiser scored the winning run on a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Allison Dilay.
