California High School Softball - Granite Hills can't get by Torrey Pines
April 3, 2012: San Diego, CA 92130 In Tuesday's non-league contest, the Torrey Pines Falcons (San Diego, CA) softball team held off the visiting Granite Hills Eagles (El Cajon, CA), by a margin of 4-3.
With the triumph, Torrey Pines moves its record to 17-1 on the year. The Falcons travel to Vista (Vista, CA) to play the Panthers in a non-league contest on Thursday, April 5. The Panthers come into the contest with a record of 1-9. Vista won 4-3 in their recent non-league contest against Oceanside (Oceanside, CA)
In their next game, the Eagles play the Escondido Cougars (Escondido, CA) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, April 5. Granite Hills will attempt to move on its 6-5 season record. The Cougars come into the contest with a 2-10 record after their 14-0 non-league win over Morse (San Diego, CA).
Game Summary
The Torrey Pines Falcons got back on the winning path with a hard fought 4-3 victory over the Granite Hills Eagles in the 3rd round of the 28 team Falcon Fiesta softball tournament yesterday at Falcon Field. Senior, Right-handed Pitcher, Taylor Lee (Cal) threw a complete game 2 hitter to improve her record to 7-0 on the season. The Falcons scored 3 runs in the first inning using 3 hits, a walk, 4 stolen bases and 2 sacrifice flys to manufacture the runs. Graniet Hills got one back in the 4th on a long solo Home Run by N. Obney. Torrey Pines got the run right back on an RBI double by Julia Yacker in the bottom of the 4th inning. In the 7th Granite Hills made it intersting as V. Hathaway hit a 2 run home run to make the final score 4-3. Torrey Pines which stole 7 bases in the contest improved to 17-1 with the win while Granite Hills drops to 6-5. Torrey Pines will conclude pool play tomorrow when they travel to Vista High School.
