In Wednesday's non-league game, the visiting Avery County Vikings basketball team scored a good 41-31 triumph over the Asheville Christian Academy Lions.

In their next game, the Vikings face the Hendersonville Bearcats (Hendersonville, NC) in a Western Highlands 1A/2A game, on Thursday, January 28. Avery County will attempt to move on its 11-8 season record. The Bearcats enter the game with a 0-17 record after their 62-45 league loss to Madison (Marshall, NC).
