North Carolina High School Basketball - Durham School of the Arts overwhelmed by Voyager Academy
November 12, 2015: Durham, NC 27701 The Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs basketball team (Durham, NC), was overwhelmed 83-56 in Thursday's non-league battle with the visiting Voyager Academy Vikings (Durham, NC)
The Vikings now possess a 3-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Durham Flight HomeSchool for a non-league battle on Saturday, November 14. Voyager Academy will battle a Flight team coming off a 87-47 non-league loss to Raleigh Christian Academy (Raleigh, NC). The Flight record now stands at 0-1.
The Bulldogs (1-3) will now prepare for their battle against River Mill Academy (Graham, NC). The Jaguars come into the non-league battle with a 1-1 record.
First Quarter
DSA came out aggressively at both ends of the floor and jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Voyager clawed their way back into the game and managed a 17-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. Sam Wilson's two free throws and big 3 point shot sparked the Vikings comeback.
Second Quarter
Voyager extended their lead to 40-29 behind 8 points in the quarter from Jay Huff and 6 from Chance Greene. The big plays of the quarter belonged to Matt Miketa as he scored 5 quick points on a basket and 3 free throws.
Third Quarter
Voyage made some defensive adjustments at halftime to counteract DSA's offensive penetration. The strategy worked at the defensive end and led to some easy baskets for the Vikings at the offensive end as Voyager scored 28 points in the quarter while holding DSA to just 13 points.
Fourth Quarter
Haydn Lyons hit two big 3 point shots in the 4th quarter to keep the rhythm for Voyager as the Vikings rolled to their third straight victory
