Tuesday afternoon’s contest had all the makings of a barn-burning pitchers duel, but Sequoia finally got to King’s Academy SP Zack Hansen for 3 runs in the 5th and two more in the 6th en route to a 5-1 win. After Hansen and Sequoia SP Kyle Cambron posted matching shutouts through the first four innings, the Cherokees touched up Hansen in the 5th in a 3-run rally highlighted by a two-run double from SR 3B Cam Greenough. Sequoia tacked on two more in the 6th on an RBI single from Zane Gelphman and a sacrifice fly from Liam Clifford. Cambron hurled his 6th consecutive complete game and improved to 9-1 on the season. Sequoia improves to 17-5-1 (9-3 PAL Ocean) and maintains a slim 1-game lead over three different second place squads in the hotly contested PAL Ocean Division.
