California High School Soccer - Highland Knight
December 17, 2010: Palmdale, CA 93552 In Friday's league battle, the host Knight Hawks soccer squad scored a close 5-3 triumph over the Highland Bulldogs.
The Hawks (4-0) will now prepare for their battle against Paraclete (Lancaster, CA). The Spirits come into the non-league battle with a 0-2 record. In their last battle, Paraclete by Knight (Palmdale, CA), 4-0, in a non-league bout.
In their next game, the Bulldogs face the Quartz Hill Rebels (Quartz Hill, CA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 18. Highland will attempt to better on its 4-1 season record.
First Half
First half started with both sides going at it. After about 15 min, with PK starting to take control they scored on a free kick just out of the penalty area from their right side. Within about 10 minutes they scores again to take a 2-0 lead off a cross ball that was not cleared and the Hawks slammed in the loose ball. With about 20 minutes left in the half knight continued the onslaught with another goal during the run of play that was blasted past the Bulldogs Josh Ramos. As the score rose so did the intensity with many fouls being called.30 minutes into the half a collision on a cross ball resulted in Ramos having to leave the game with a leg injury. Preciado stepped in to replace him.
Second Half
The second half started with a flurry of Highland goals. Josue Gramajo scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the half to tie the game. He had 2 assists from Agustin Cena and even one from Preciado on a long free kick. The score stayed knotted for a few minutes when Knight scored on a free kick that was flicked over Preciado for Knight to retake the lead. An insurance goal was added in exactly the same way 10 minutes later. The hard fought game was punctuated with many Yellow cards being given to the Knight players as they muscled their way to the win.
