Match Summary
Oldenburg Academy defeated South Decatur in the first round of the Hauser Sectional at Hauser H.S. The Twisters won in straight sets by the scores of 25-14, 26-24, and 25-20. OA had a balanced attack hitting 0.184 for the match and were led by senior Anna Dickman and sophomore Elizabeth Fiutem with 9 kills each on 31 and 27 attacks, respectively. Junior Audrey Oesterling and senior Rory Bauman added 6 and 5 kills. Oldenburg recorded 11 aces on 75 service attempts. Defensively, OA was led by senior libero, Megan Hornberger, who set a school record for digs in a single match with 55 digs. She also handled the majority of the serve reception with 32 receptions and only 2 errors. Senior Brittany Harrell had 20 assists and Fiutem recorded 14 assists. Head coach Brian Patterson was pleased with the balanced play noting, "It's very tough to beat a team 3 times in the same season. Our gals stepped up to the challenge and played solid ball on both sides of the net."
