Smithfield-Selma Spartans (Smithfield, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the host Triton Hawks (Erwin, NC), 9-8 in a non-league test.

With the win, Smithfield-Selma upgrades its record to 3-0 on the season. The Spartans travel to North Johnston (Kenly, NC) to battle the Panthers in a non-league test on Friday, March 9. The Panthers come into the test with a record of 1-1. North Johnston won 14-2 in their recent non-league test against Neuse Charter (Smithfield, NC)

With the defeat, Triton falls to 1-2 on the season. The Hawks host Midway (Dunn, NC) to battle the Raiders in a non-league test on Friday, March 9. The Raiders come into the test with a record of 1-0. Midway won 14-0 in their recent non-league test against Lakewood (Roseboro, NC)
