Ohio High School Volleyball - Westlake Olmsted Falls
August 28, 2012: Westlake, OH 44145 The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the host Westlake Demons to 1 in the Bulldogs league victory on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs now possess a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to North Olmsted for a Southwestern game on Thursday, August 30. Olmsted Falls will meet a Eagles team coming off a 3-0 league loss to Steele (Amherst, OH). The Eagles record now stands at 0-1.
The Demons (0-2) will now prepare for their game against Steele (Amherst, OH). The Comets enter the Southwestern game with a 1-1 record. In their last game, Steele defeated North Olmsted (North Olmsted, OH), 3-0, in a league game.
Match Summary
The Lady Dogs traveled to westlake for their 2012 home opener against Olmsted Falls Alumni Head Coach Meghan Mental. Westlake came out pumped in their second match of the year defeating the Bulldogs in the first game 25-21. Once the Lady Dogs settled in and realized they could compete they came on strong to take the next 3 games and win the match. Some outstanding play was turned in by Seniors Emily Mandilakis(first varsity start) who had 12 kills and 4 kill blocks, while setter Mehganne Daley took over the floor and ran the offense in a very confident manner.
Freshman Katie Edgington lead the team in blocks with 12 kill blocks, while class mate Lexi Lombardo offered up 11 kills. Sophomore Kerri Gasper was awesome on the court contributing 12 kills, 3 kill blocks, 9 digs.
The team travels to North Olmsted on Thursday evening.
