The Madison Memorial Spartans basketball team scored 79 points and held the host East Purgolders to 61 in the Spartans league triumph on Thursday.

The Spartans now sport a 9-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Linn-Mar for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 15. Madison Memorial will confront a Lions team coming off a 80-55 league win over Washington (Cedar Rapids, IA). The Lions record now stands at 12-0.

With the defeat, East moves to 7-3 on the year. The Purgolders host Middleton (Middleton, WI) to confront the Cardinals in a Big Eight match on Saturday, January 15. The Cardinals enter the match with a record of 6-4. Middleton won 74-49 in their recent league match against Parker (Janesville, WI)
