October 7, 2016: Shelby, NC 28152 The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Kings Mountain Mountaineers (Kings Mountain, NC) and the host Crest Chargers (Shelby, NC), observed Kings Mountain's football squad edge Crest by a count of 21-19.
The Mountaineers now own a 5-3 record. They play next when they host Rutherfordton-Spindale Central for a South Mountain Athletic 2A/3A contest on Friday, October 14. Kings Mountain will play a Hilltoppers squad coming off a 25-6 league win over Chase (Forest City, NC). The Hilltoppers record now stands at 4-3.
Coming up next, the Chargers play the East Burke Cavaliers (Connelly Springs, NC) in a South Mountain Athletic 2A/3A contest, on Friday, October 14. Crest will attempt to upgrade on its 5-2 season record. The Cavaliers go into the contest with a 2-5 record after their 20-0 league win over Draughn (Valdese, NC).
