The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Mt. Vernon Tigers (Mt. Vernon, TX) and the host Hooks Hornets (Hooks, TX), observed Mt. Vernon's football squad edge Hooks by a count of 27-24.

The Tigers now own a 3-2 record. They play next when they host Prairiland for a 2A-1 Region II District 8 contest on Friday, October 4. Mt. Vernon will encounter a Patriots squad coming off a 51-0 non-league loss to Cooper (Cooper, TX). The Patriots record now stands at 3-1.
