April 12, 2010: Huntington, WV 25704 The Huntington Highlanders (Huntington, WV) baseball edged the host Spring Valley Timberwolves (Huntington, WV), 4-3 in Monday's league challenge.
With the win, Huntington upgrades its record to 10-1 on the season. The Highlanders host St. Albans (St. Albans, WV) to battle the Red Dragons in a Mountain State challenge on Tuesday, April 13. The Red Dragons come into the challenge with a record of 7-4. St. Albans won 14-4 in their recent league challenge against Riverside (Belle, WV)
With the defeat, Spring Valley falls to 2-5 on the season. The Timberwolves host Ripley (Ripley, WV) to battle the Vikings in a Mountain State challenge on Tuesday, April 13. The Vikings come into the challenge with a record of 8-5. Ripley won 4-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Bridgeport (Bridgeport, WV)
Game Summary
Trace Dempsey pitched complete game featuring 11 strike outs and 1 walk. Zach Sizemore HR in the 3rd cleared him and Anthony Brunetti who was Hit by a pitch. Chase Adkins added a RBI single that score Jacob Roberts who led off inning with a single, and Ben Haer hit a solo HR. This was enough to counter an error plauged 4th that allowed Spring Valley two unearned runs.
