Arizona High School Basketball - Shadow Mountain overwhelms Arcadia
December 20, 2010: Phoenix, AZ 85028 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Shadow Mountain Matadors (Phoenix, AZ) and the visiting Arcadia Titans (Phoenix, AZ), saw Shadow Mountain's basketball squad trounce Arcadia by a score of 53-31.
With the victory, Shadow Mountain improves its record to 8-1 on the campaign. The Matadors travel to Centennial (Peoria, AZ) to battle the Coyotes in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, December 21. The Coyotes come into the challenge with a record of 8-3. Centennial won 57-50 in their recent non-league challenge against Cibola (Yuma, AZ)
Next up, the Titans battle the Dysart Demons (El Mirage, AZ) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, December 21. Arcadia will attempt to improve on its 6-2 season record. The Demons come into the challenge with a 5-1 record after their 51-48 non-league loss to North (Phoenix, AZ).
First Quarter
Arcadia got off to a good start, leading 9 - 4 early in the quarter, and ended the period with a 13 - 8 lead. Jenna Longo and Kylie Herd had four points apiece in the period for Arcadia, while Lexi Kresl led Shadow Mountain with six.
Second Quarter
Shadow Mountain's Lexi Kresl took over the game, scoring 11 points in the period as Shadow Mountain took the lead, outscoring the Lady Titans 20 - 7, for a 28 - 20 halftime lead. Gianna Grumbein had three in the period for Arcadia.
Third Quarter
The third quarter featured more Lexi Kresl, as she scored 10 points for the Matadors. Shadow Mountain outscored Arcadia 14 - 2 in the period, and seized control of the game with a 42 - 22 lead at the end of three quarters. Kylie Herd scored Arcadia's two points in the period.
Fourth Quarter
Jasmine Taliman scored five points in the period for Shadow Mountain, as the Matadors edged Arcadia 11 - 9 in the period. The deal was sealed, however, as Shadow Mountain won 53 - 31. Maise Tuipulotu scored six for Arcadia in the period, and led the Lady Titans for the game with eight points. Shadow Mountain's Lexi Kresl led all scorers with 31 points. Gianna Grumbein led Arcadia with six rebounds and two steals, and Jenna Longo added two assists for Arcadia.
