Missouri High School Basketball - Wellington-Napoleon thwarts Orrick
January 17, 2013: Wellington, MO 64097 The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers (Wellington, MO) basketball felled the visiting Orrick Bearcats (Orrick, MO), 53-43 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Tigers (14-1) will now prepare for their test against Kingsville (Kingsville, MO). The Tigers go into the non-league test with a 1-8 record. In their last test, Kingsville went down by Marshall (Marshall, MO), 71-14, in a non-league test.
The Bearcats now own a 5-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Concordia for a non-league test on Saturday, January 19. Orrick will clash with a Fighting Orioles squad coming off a 57-55 non-league loss to Marshall (Marshall, MO). The Fighting Orioles record now stands at 6-5.
Game Summary
Tonight was a hard fought game against a good Orrick team. We played really well offensively I thought, they were really playing a soft man to man defense and I thought our girls did a good job of being patient. I thought our defense was really good tonight. We were able to pressure their guards all night. Tonight was a great win for us as a team in making it to the finals of our tournament and a great night for Katie Kropp who scored her 1,000 point.
