Sayre Redskins (Sayre, PA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Athens Wildcats (Athens, PA), 34-31 in a league bout.

With the victory, Sayre upgrades its record to 15-2 on the campaign. The Redskins host Canton (Canton, PA) to battle the Warriors in a Northern Tier - Eastern battle on Tuesday, February 7. The Warriors come into the battle with a record of 8-9. Canton lost 44-18 in their recent league battle against Sayre (Sayre, PA)

The Wildcats (13-3) will now prepare for their battle against Towanda (Towanda, PA). The Knights come into the Northern Tier - Eastern battle with a 15-3 record. In their last battle, Towanda edged Mansfield (Mansfield, PA), 62-27, in a non-league battle.
