The crowd at Wednesday's non-league match between the Scotland Fighting Scots (Laurinburg, NC) and the host Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC), saw Scotland's softball squad nip Laney by a count of 7-4.

The Fighting Scots now sport a 8-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Cape Fear for a non-league match on Friday, May 16. Scotland will face a Colts squad coming off a 14-1 non-league win over Holly Springs (Holly Springs, NC). The Colts record now stands at 21-0.

With the loss, Laney falls to 16-6 on the campaign.
