April 3, 2010: Jackson, AL 36545 In Saturday's non-league game, the visiting Leroy Bears baseball team scored a tight 5-3 victory over the Jackson Aggies.
The Bears (24-2) will now prepare for their game against Fruitdale (Fruitdale, AL). The Pirates go into the non-league game with a 1-7 record. In their last game, Fruitdale by Blacksher (Uriah, AL), 5-0, in a non-league game.
The Aggies (19-6) will now prepare for their game against Thomasville (Thomasville, AL). The Tigers go into the non-league game with a 4-8 record.
Game Summary
Bears get the broom out and sweep the season series with the 4A Aggies! Ervin looked great on the mound for 6 2/3 innings, shutting down a good hitting Jackson team. Covington got the Bears on the board with a RBI double in the 3rd, Davis hit a monster homerun in the 4th and Phillip Ervin had a RBI single in the 5th. A couple of unearned runs sealed the deal in the 7th for the 24th win of the year. The game really meant little to either team--Yeah Right! This win was HUGE, as it carries a year's worth of bragging rights.
