The Rutherfordton-Spindale Central Hilltoppers (Rutherfordton, NC) basketball felled the visiting Chase Trojans (Forest City, NC), 72-53 in Tuesday's league test.

The Hilltoppers (13-5) will now prepare for their test against Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Patriots go into the 3A/2A Conference 16 test with a 15-4 record. In their last test, Freedom defeated Burns (Lawndale, NC), 69-25, in a league test.

The Trojans now own a 3-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to Burns for a 3A/2A Conference 16 test on Friday, January 29. Chase will clash with a Bulldogs squad coming off a 69-25 league loss to Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Bulldogs record now stands at 0-8.
