April 1, 2014: Horsham, PA 19044 The Central Bucks East Patriots (Doylestown, PA) baseball trounced the host Hatboro-Horsham Hatters (Horsham, PA), 9-2 in Tuesday's league contest.
Coming up next, the Patriots play the Central Bucks West Bucks (Doylestown, PA) in a Suburban One - Continental contest, on Thursday, April 3. Central Bucks East will attempt to better on its 2-0 season record. The Bucks enter the contest with a 1-1 record after their 9-3 non-league win over Cheltenham (Wyncote, PA).
The Hatters now sport a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Souderton for a Suburban One - Continental contest on Thursday, April 3.
Game Summary
The Patriots refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Hatboro-Horsham, recording a 9-2 victory on Tuesday at Hatboro Horsham High School.
The game was decided quickly as the Patriots scored nine runs in the first three innings. An error and a two-run single by Eric Chase during the first inning and a two-run double by David Yanni, a two-run home run by Brandon Birkhead, an RBI double by Carter Usowski, and an RBI double by Eric in the second inning fueled the Patriots’ offense early.
Dalton Smoot was in control on the hill. Dalton held H-H hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one. Brandon got the win for The Patriots. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered four hits. Yanni, Birkhead and Chase combined for six hits and seven RBIs.
