Florida High School Basketball - Collier fells Bishop Verot
November 24, 2008: Fort Myers, FL 33919 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Collier Cougars (Naples, FL) and the host Bishop Verot Vikings (Fort Myers, FL), saw Collier's basketball squad overcome Bishop Verot by a count of 66-56.
With the victory, Collier upgrades its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Community (Naples, FL) to play the Seahawks in a non-league challenge on Saturday, November 29. The Seahawks come into the challenge with a record of 1-1. Community won 55-49 in their recent non-league challenge against Palmetto Ridge (Naples, FL)
Next up, the Vikings play the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons (Punta Gorda, FL) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, November 26. Bishop Verot will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record.
First Quarter
The Cougars came out strong and jumped on Bishop Verot quickly and matched their intensity and ended the quater with a five point lead
Second Quarter
Cougars and Vikings played evenly the whole quarter.
Third Quarter
Bishop Verot got back into the game with their defense and the help of the Cougars being in foul trouble. With the experience of Jesus Gonzalez, Brian Landers and Jason Humphrey to break the press the Cougars regained the upper hand and were ahead by eight at the end of the quater
Fourth Quarter
The intensity of Barron's defense during the quater, led by Jesus Gonzalez, Brian Landers, David Bianchi and Jason Humphrey were able to expand to lead to as much as thirteen points. With time running out Bishop Verot started to press for points but the timely shooting of Barron allowed them to pull away for the victory
