California High School Baseball - Rim of the World loses to Barstow
March 5, 2013: Barstow, CA 92311 The Barstow Aztecs baseball team scored 9 runs and limited the visiting Rim of the World Fighting Scots to 2 in the Aztecs non-league victory on Tuesday.
The Aztecs (2-0) will now prepare for their match against Ramona (Riverside, CA). The Rams go into the non-league match with a 1-1 record. In their last match, Ramona edged Serrano (Phelan, CA), 5-4, in a non-league match.
The Fighting Scots (1-1) will now prepare for their match against Serrano (Phelan, CA). The Diamondbacks go into the non-league match with a 0-4 record. In their last match, Serrano was overwhelmed by Ramona (Riverside, CA), 5-4, in a non-league match.
Game Summary
AustYn Willis threw a masterful 6 innings (85 pitches) 3 hits, 1 K, 3 walks. The first two batters of the game scored on manufactered runs and the Willis settled down and threw a flawless game guided by his pitch calling catcher, Storm Phillips. Willis added 1 hit and an RBI and his battery Mate Phillips added a hit and an RBI himself also. Senior Colin Klein went 4 for 4 with 3 singles and a triple. 3B Austin Crank went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Sophmore center fielder Sean Schoffstahl is the leadoff hitter score two runs and hit his first Homer of the season to right center field and made a great straight away catch in center. Senior left fielder Jordan Soto raked a shot down the right field line for his first triple of his career and scored moments later on the RBI by the true fresman second baseman Alfredo Lopez.
Ezekial Haenelt came in to pitch the seventh inning and struck out one batter and let his Aztec defense close the game out.
