North Carolina High School Soccer - Lincoln Charter nudges East Lincoln
August 20, 2013: Denver, NC 28037 Lincoln Charter Eagles (Denver, NC) supporters were pleased Tuesday as they observed their soccer team hold off the host East Lincoln Mustangs (Denver, NC), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.
Next, the Eagles confront the Bandys Trojans (Catawba, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, August 22. Lincoln Charter will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record. The Trojans enter the challenge with a 0-1 record after their 5-2 non-league loss to Hickory (Hickory, NC).
The Mustangs now possess a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Shelby for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, August 21.
Game Summary
Lincoln Charter took the lead just two minutes before the half on a blistered shot from the top of the 18 by senior Danny Aguilar assisted by freshman Cory Martin. In the second half, the Eagles extended their lead in the 56th minute to 2-0 when senior Daniel Moore cleaned up a loose ball in the box with a top shelf finish. East Lincoln pulled back a goal in the 63 minute on a goal by Micheal Hernandez, but Lincoln Charter held on for the victory with some dynamic saves by sophomore goalie Isaiah Smith down the stretch.
