In Thursday's league outing, the Bird Skyhawks (Chesterfield, VA) basketball squad edged the host Monacan Chiefs (Richmond, VA), by a margin of 56-52.

The Skyhawks (7-2) will now prepare for their outing against Dale (Chester, VA). The Knights go into the non-league outing with a 9-0 record. In their last outing, Dale nipped Colonial Heights (Colonial Heights, VA), 80-27, in a league outing.

The Chiefs now own a 8-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Clover Hill for a AAA Dominion outing on Monday, January 11. Monacan will confront a Cavaliers team coming off a 55-43 non-league loss to Atlee (Mechanicsville, VA). The Cavaliers record now stands at 1-6.
