September 6, 2016: Augusta, GA 30906 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league bout between the Alleluia Community (Augusta, GA) and the visiting Augusta Christian Lions (Martinez, GA), saw Alleluia Community's volleyball squad beat Augusta Christian by a tally of 3-1.
With the win, Alleluia Community upgrades its record to 1-0 on the year. The travel to Strom Thurmond (Johnston, SC) to play the Rebels in a non-league bout on Friday, September 9. The Rebels go into the bout with a record of 3-3. Strom Thurmond won 3-0 in their recent league game against Swansea (Swansea, SC)
The Lions (1-3) will now prepare for their game against Heathwood Hall Episcopal (Columbia, SC). The Highlanders enter the SCISA AAA Region I game with a 1-4 record. In their last game, Heathwood Hall Episcopal dropped by Wilson Hall (Sumter, SC), 3-0, in a non-league game.
Match Summary
The Lions fell in four (4) sets to Alleluia with 2 sets being nail bitters. The Lions at times showed some improvement in their passing culminating in kills, however, they went back to their old ways for two sets. The frustration of both teams ability to be consistent was seen with the abundant amount of "Doubles" called by the Referee. The Lions are looking to work hard in practice as they move on towards Heathwood Hall at home and ending the week with the Two-Day Tourney @ Augusta Prep. The Lions may face off against Alleluia over the weekend which could result in another up and down match or beginning of a winning streak.
