Virginia High School Soccer - Eastern Mennonite knocks off Virginia Episcopal School
March 12, 2013: Harrisonburg, VA 22802 Eastern Mennonite (Harrisonburg, VA) supporters were pleased Tuesday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the visiting Virginia Episcopal School Bishops (Lynchburg, VA), 7-0 in a league challenge.
Next, the confront the Trinity at Meadow View (Falls Church, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, March 16. Eastern Mennonite will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record.
The Bishops now possess a 0-2 record. They take the field next when they host North Cross for a Blue Ridge Conference challenge on Thursday, March 14. Game Summary
In a very early season test for the Bishops they traveled to Harrisonburg Virginia to take on Eastern Mennonite a perennial state power in the first conference match of the season. Mennonite wasted little time in pushing the Bishops back into the their defensive third of the field. Scoring four times in the first half they opened a sizable lead that the Bishops could do little to counter. With three goals in later stages of the second half Mennonite took the contest by a score of 7-0. Ashley Hodges played a solid game in defense and Alexandra Rapadas made some strong runs as a striker but to little avail.
