California High School Softball - Elliot Christian holds off Colusa
March 5, 2011: Lodi, CA 95242 The Elliot Christian Eagles the visiting Colusa Redskins softball squad by a count of 2-0 in Saturday's non-league battle.
The Eagles (4-0) will now prepare for their battle against East Nicolaus (Nicolaus, CA). The Spartans go into the non-league battle with a 0-1 record. In their last battle, East Nicolaus by Antelope (Antelope, CA), 11-1, in a non-league battle.
The Redskins now sport a 3-1 record. They play next when they travel to Forest Lake Christian for a non-league battle on Saturday, March 5.
Game Summary
Colusa locked up with another first time opponent in Elliot Christian 2010 Sac JoaquinDivision 5 champion. It was a pitching dual down to the wire as Tiffany Friel threw shut out inning after shut out inning through the end of regulation. In the first extra inning Elliot lead off with a base hit that was missed play for a 2 base error, Friel got her 11th strike out of the game, then Elliots 3 hitter rolled a grounder to shortstop and the throw to the plate was hit and wide allowing the first run of the game to score. The insurance run scored on a single up the middle. Colusa was unable to generate any offense in the bottom of the eighth.
