Alex Burridge has been named player of the year. "The heart and soul of a baseball team often goes unnoticed: crouched behind home plate and behind a mask. Catcher Alex Burridge made sure that his senior year would get some notice. The 2011 Perry baseball team rallied behind Burridge – a quiet leader who had a remarkable season, leading the Pumas in eight offensive categories, including hits (52), RBI (47), AVG (.468), SLG (.766), OPS (1.281), and home runs (8). During the playoff run which lead to PHS’s first ever AIA trophy (State Runner-Up), Burridge hit .611 and belted 11 hits, 4 doubles, one home run, and drove in five runs. Defensively, Burridge was stellar. He ended the season with 200 TC, a FP of .985, and he threw out 20 base runners attempting to steal (26-46, 57% CS). He managed a pitching staff that set team records in wins, ERA, and K/BB, to name a few. Burridge was a total team player who came to work every day with class, and is quite possibly the hardest-working baseball player PHS has ever had. The 2011 PHS baseball team had several impact players that helped lead the Pumas to the State Championship game. The catcher, quiet behind the plate, was the reliable heartbeat that the Pumas needed. "
