Turner County Rebels (Ashburn, GA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane (Fitzgerald, GA), 58-52 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Turner County upgrades its record to 11-0 on the campaign. The Rebels host Wilcox County (Rochelle, GA) to play the Patriots in a A Region 2 bout on Saturday, January 2. The Patriots come into the bout with a record of 8-3. Wilcox County lost 53-44 in their recent non-league bout against Calhoun County (Edison, GA)

Next up, the Purple Hurricane play the Pelham Hornets (Pelham, GA) in a AA Region 1 bout, on Saturday, January 2. Fitzgerald will attempt to upgrade on its 7-1 season record. The Hornets come into the bout with a 10-0 record after their 50-48 non-league win over Colquitt County (Moultrie, GA).
