New Jersey High School Basketball - Paramus Catholic crushes Northern Valley Regional
January 19, 2012: Demarest, NJ 07456 Paramus Catholic Paladins (Paramus, NJ) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Northern Valley Regional Norsemen (Demarest, NJ), 68-35 in a non-league bout.
With the victory, Paramus Catholic upgrades its record to 5-4 on the campaign. The Paladins host DePaul (Wayne, NJ) to play the Spartans in a Big North - United bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Spartans come into the bout with a record of 11-1.
Next up, the Norsemen play the Ramsey Rams (Ramsey, NJ) in a non-league test, on Saturday, January 21. Northern Valley Regional will attempt to advance on its 4-6 season record.
First Quarter
PC came out like guys on a mission , with something to proof. Kyle Menard in his 2nd game had 6 pts in the opening period, with 5pts from his team mate Jalen Henriquez, PC won the 1st quarter against Demarest H.S. 17 to 3.
Second Quarter
PC continued to make shots Marquel Sheffield added 6pts , PC controlled the boards and had great ball movement throughout the entire game. PC won the 2nd quarter 16 to 9 and lead at the half 33-12.
Third Quarter
More Menard in the 3rd quarter with8pts, and3pts from Mike Alford, who distributed the ball with 7 assist and great ball movement. PC won the 3rd quarter 19 to 12 and pushed there lead over Demarest H.S. 52-24.
Fourth Quarter
none of the strats played in the final peroid and the subs came in with the same engery as the starts. freshman Najee Clayton had 5pts, white team mate Kareem Coston, added 3pts & Ah,ir Dobbs, had 2pts in the final period. PC won the quarter 16 to 11, and won the game 68-35. PC defense was very good and they seemed like they are going to be a threat in the future. Kyle Menard ended up with 18pts, 7 res, 3 asst, 2 stls & 2 blocks. Jalen Henriquez had 11pts, 4 rebs, 3 asst, 1 stl. Marquel Sheffied had 12pts, 5rebs, 1 blk. Vaughn Dudley ended up with 2pts, 6 rebs, 3 asst, 2stls.
