New Jersey High School Basketball - Northern Valley tipped by Paramus Catholic
February 4, 2012: Paramus, NJ 07652 In Saturday's non-league match, the host Paramus Catholic Paladins basketball team scored a tight 56-51 triumph over the Northern Valley Golden Knights.
In their next game, the Paladins confront the St. Joseph Regional Green Knights (Montvale, NJ) in a Big North - United match, on Tuesday, February 7. Paramus Catholic will attempt to better on its 10-4 season record. The Green Knights enter the match with a 3-13 record after their 59-49 league loss to DePaul (Wayne, NJ).
With the defeat, Northern Valley moves to 9-2 on the year. The Golden knights host Ramapo (Franklin Lakes, NJ) to face the Raiders in a non-league game on Tuesday, February 7. The Raiders enter the game with a record of 3-11. Ramapo lost 49-41 in their recent league game against Indian Hills (Oakland, NJ)
First Quarter
slow start for both PC & Old Tappan in the 2nd round of the Bergen Jambooree, O.T.'s Troy McLaughlin & team mate Whitney both started the 1st quarter with 4pts.
Second Quarter
three balls started flying for O.T. McLaughlin had two of the three 3's, O.T. scored 20pts in the quarter outscoring PC 20-16 in the 2nd and lead at thehalf 28-24.
Third Quarter
Defense, Defense, Defense, thats what PC did in the 3rd quarter, while scoring 16pts in the 3rd quarter, PC's Mike Allford scored 10 of his 24pts in the period, with help from teammate Jalen Henriquez, who had 6pts. PC won the quarter 16 to 12 and took the lead going into the final period 43-40.
Fourth Quarter
More defense with hard closeouts to O.T. shooters, PC won the final quarter 15 to 11, and won the game 56-51, to advance against Hackensack H.S. next Sunday at 12 noon.
