Coronado Thunderbirds (El Paso, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Americas Trail Blazers (El Paso, TX), 62-50 in a league bout.

With the win, Coronado upgrades its record to 15-5 on the season. The Thunderbirds travel to Socorro (El Paso, TX) to play the Bulldogs in a 5A Region I District 1 bout on Friday, January 20. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 2-17.

Next up, the Trail Blazers play the Horizon Scorpions (El Paso, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Americas will attempt to upgrade on its 16-5 season record. The Scorpions go into the bout with a 1-17 record after their 69-35 league loss to Ysleta (El Paso, TX).
