The Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS) basketball felled the visiting Water Valley Blue Devils (Water Valley, MS), 58-50 in Thursday's league test.

The Wildcats (8-12) will now prepare for their test against Palmer (Marks, MS). The Dragons go into the 3A Region 2 test with a 7-12 record. In their last test, Palmer was beaten by Holly Springs (Holly Springs, MS), 93-62, in a league test.

The Blue Devils now own a 4-16 record. They play next when they travel to Coahoma Agricultural for a 3A Region 2 test on Friday, February 2. Water Valley will encounter a Tigers squad coming off a 70-61 league win over Palmer (Marks, MS). The Tigers record now stands at 17-4.
