Colorado High School Softball - Mullen bounces Overland
August 24, 2011: Denver, CO 80236 Mullen Mustangs (Denver, CO) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting Overland Trailblazers (Aurora, CO), 12-0 in a league challenge.
The Mustangs now sport a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Cherry Creek for a 5A Centennial challenge on Saturday, August 27.
With the loss, Overland falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Trailblazers host Arapahoe (Littleton, CO) to face the Warriors in a 5A Centennial challenge on Saturday, August 27. The Warriors come into the test with a record of 0-2. Arapahoe lost 12-4 in their recent league test against Smoky Hill (Aurora, CO)
Game Summary
Mullen started their season opener with a 12-0 shut-out over Overland High School. Offense was fueled by an error-free defense and combined team effort of 13 hits, with 8 RBI's between Alex Skene (Junior SS) and Lauren Hernandez (Sophomore 3rd Base). Maxie Chacon (Senior) pitched 4 strike outs and Tatitanna Dominguez (Freshman), pitched 2 innings with 6 straight outs. Other highlights include a strong defense by Selena Gonzales, Megan Starr and Corin Panozzo.
